iOS 14 Validation and Impact to Voalte Platform

Purpose.

The purpose of this bulletin is to inform all hospital leaders and staff responsible for the support of iOS Voalte Me^® and Voalte One^TM devices of the public release of iOS 14 on 09/16/20 and the validation of iOS 14 with Voalte^® Platform 3.7.

Impact.

In order to prepare for the public release of iOS 14, Voalte has completed testing and officially announces support and validation of iOS 14 with Voalte Me and Voalte One 3.7.

As a reminder, Voalte Me and Voalte One 3.7.10 will be the last versions to support iOS 12.

Note: We are currently looking into an open issue specific to ADFS SSO two-factor authentication with Voalte Me and iOS 14. 

Note: Customers supporting Voalte One phones will need to sign a Controlled Release (CR) agreement prior to upgrading phones to iOS 14.

The Apple iOS Validations page has been updated on the Voalte Knowledge Base.

Notable iOS 14 Changes

Option to display incoming calls in Banner or Full Screen mode

iOS 14 users may now choose to display incoming calls in Banner or Full Screen mode. In Full Screen mode, if an incoming call screen disappears from the user’s view in iOS 14, a status bar with a phone icon will display at the top of the screen. The user can tap the status bar to reopen the call. In Banner mode, a banner displays if the user is within an app or on the Home screen. The user can tap the banner to open the call. Please refer to the following images for examples of each mode. 

In iOS 14 the incoming call screen will now default to a banner style notification as shown in the images below. Users can pull down on the banner and revert the screen back to full screen or they can swipe up on the notification to dismiss it. If the user dismisses the banner, the incoming call displays via the status bar, as in Full Screen mode.
