General Availability of iOS 14
12/03/20
Purpose.
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform all hospital leaders and staff responsible for the support of devices running iOS Voalte One® Application about the general availability (GA) of iOS 14 with Voalte One 3.7.9+.
Impact.
On 12/03/20 all existing versions of iOS 14 have been tested and are validated with Voalte One 3.7.9+. We strongly recommended upgrading devices to at least 14.2 prior to deploying, as this version resolves a few minor iOS 14-related bugs.
Customers with iOS Voalte One 3.7.9+ who wish to upgrade their iPhones to iOS 14 or deploy existing iPhones on iOS 14 may proceed after reviewing the information below.
Operating systems.
For iOS 14 support, iPhones must run Voalte One 3.7.9 or higher. All other versions of Voalte One are not supported with iOS 14.
Specific iOS-validated versions can be found on the Voalte Knowledge Base.
Note: If you do not have access to the Voalte Knowledge Base, please contact Voalte Support.
Note: Support for iOS 14 with Voalte Me® Application has previously been validated and did not require a controlled release.
Notable iOS 14 changes.
The following table includes important iOS 14 changes customers may need to make for iPhones running Voalte One 3.7.9+ on iOS 14.

iOS 14 Local Network Prompt |
After a device has been up upgraded to iOS 14, the following prompt will appear either at the login screen upon first launching Voalte One or with the first outbound call that is made. Hillrom recommends validating the upgrade on test devices prior to upgrading all production devices.
Important! Voalte One requires this prompt to be enabled for calling to function properly. It is important to select ‘OK’ when presented with this prompt. If you select 'Don't Allow', then Call Rescue will kick in instantly on an active call. You can re-enable this setting by going to the native OS settings -> Voalte One -> enable 'Local Network'.

Incoming Call Banner |
By default, incoming calls will be set to banner style notifications. This change in combination of iOS 14.2 eliminates a previous iOS bug where incoming call screens would disappear from view. The notification banner allows users to continue using the application prior to answering a call. In addition, users can pull down on the banner to change the view back to full screen or they can swipe up to remove the banner from the screen. This will silence the call, although the call will still be 'incoming'. Banner incoming calls will resemble the following example:
If an incoming call screen is dismissed from view, users can bring it back to view by selecting the status banner at the top of the screen. This status banner can be seen in the following image. The banner appears whether Voalte is in the foreground or background. |
