The purpose of this article is to list the required equipment and provide instructions for how to replace charging station micro USB cables.
IMPORTANT! If your cable(s) are defective or inoperable, remove from operation, do not use, and replace as soon as possible.
Required supplies.
- The charging station
- Key(s) to the charging station (if applicable)
- Micro USB cables -- enough to replace what is needed. Each charging station drawer holds a maximum of 24 cables.
- A box to put old cables in
- A wheeled cart to work from (recommended)
Instructions.
Follow the directions below to replace the micro USB charging cables in your charging station.
- Ensure you have enough cables for each cabinet you are addressing.
Note: Each charging station drawer holds a maximum of 24 cables.
- Unplug the charging station from the electrical outlet.
- Open the charging station door(s) and pull out the sliding drawer of the charging station.
Note: Some charging stations may have more than one drawer. Do one drawer at a time.
- Using your fingers at the device/battery pack's connection point, disconnect all devices (including the battery pack) from the micro USB charging cables.
IMPORTANT: Do not yank or pull the micro USB cables. (See images below.)

- Unscrew the thumbscrew that secures the micro USB compartment and lift the lid. (See image below.)

- Using your fingers, disconnect the current micro USB cable at the connection point in the drawer and connect a new cable, threading it through the slot in the micro USB compartment to the device tray. If replacing multiple cables, place the old cables in a box separate from the new cables.
IMPORTANT: Do not yank or pull the micro USB cables.
- Ensure all cables are threaded to the device tray, close the micro USB compartment and hand-tighten the thumbscrew. For the front slots in the drawer, use the front USB ports closest to the slot to provide adequate cable length to the tray.
IMPORTANT! You must store your charging station micro USB cables and connected devices correctly to avoid putting extra tension on the micro USB cable. - Plug in the charging station to the electrical outlet.
- Connect devices (inside their battery packs) to the new micro USB charging cables and ensure they are charging.
- Slide the drawer(s) into the cabinet.
- Close the cabinet door(s).
