iOS Voalte One Deployment Requirements

In order to deploy iOS Voalte One, the customer must first enroll into Apple Business Manager. Apple Business Manager will give the customer access to two programs that are required for Voalte deployments: Device Enrollment Program and Volume Purchase Program. Please see the information below for more details on Apple Business Manager, Device Enrollment Program, and Volume Purchase Program.

Apple Business Manager

  • Apple portal used for device management (DEP AND VPP)
  • Customer must sign up for ABM account prior to implementing iOS Voalte One.
  • Ability to manage multiple administrators with different levels of access.

Apple - Getting Started Guide available here.

Device Enrollment Program (DEP)

  • Allows sites to enroll & activate iOS devices to an MDM server
  • Allows iOS devices to be tracked by Apple and customer institution
  • Required for all Voalte Deployments

Volume Purchase Program (VPP) for Business

  • Allows sites to push out applications without an Apple ID on the phone.
  • Allows access to the Custom B2B (non-public) applications (and public applications) once added to the list
    • Voalte One applications are Custom B2B, meaning they are not publicly available on the App Store.
  • Required for access to Voalte One

How it all ties together

DEP Setup

  1. Hospital purchases iPhones from a participating Apple authorized reseller
    • The customer works with Apple and the reseller to set up an Apple ID for DEP
  2. Customer (with Voalte assistance if using Voalte Connect) configures the MDM assigned within Apple Business Manager.

VPP Setup

  1. Hospital provides Customer Name and Org ID to Voalte when requesting access to Voalte One
  2. Hospital goes to Apple Business Manager and purchases licenses of the application (no cost associated with purchasing licenses).
  3. MDM will populate with the application that was just purchased.
