The following article outlines how Voalte One and Voalte Me interact with the volume setting controls of an iPhone.

Note: Notification volume settings are subject to change with any iOS or Voalte Platform release.  

iPhone sound controls.

iPhones have two sound controls: Ringer and Volume.

• Ringer is typically for incoming calls, alarms and app notifications. The Ringer sound control can be adjusted by the hardware buttons on the side of the iPhone if the Change with Buttons setting is ON in the iPhone settings (OFF by default) and no media is active. 
• Volume is for media volume (e.g., playing a song or video on the iPhone). Media volume is controlled by the hardware buttons when Change with Buttons is OFF (default). When the Change with Buttons setting is ON and a media app is active (e.g., Apple Music or YouTube), the hardware buttons will control Volume, not Ringer. As soon as the media app is inactive, the hardware buttons will control Ringer.

Voalte One.

This information below outlines how Voalte One interacts with the iPhone notification volume settings. 

• Users are able to adjust the volume of texts, alerts and reminders with hardware buttons.
• Users cannot adjust the incoming call volume through hardware buttons. The only way to adjust would be to go to Settings-> Sounds and Haptics -> and adjusting the volume.
• Turning the Change with Buttons settings ON will cause inconsistencies with the Ringer and Volume settings when adjusted with the hardware buttons. Voalte recommends provisioning with this setting OFF (default value). 

Voalte Me.

This information below outlines how Voalte Me interacts with the iPhone notification volume settings. 

• Users cannot adjust Voalte Platform notifications volume with the hardware buttons unless the  Change with Buttons setting is ON. This configuration aligns with most applications in terms of notification volume control.
• Voalte does not have a recommendation on how Voalte Me users should configure the Change with Buttons setting.
