Battery Swap Mode

Description

Battery swap mode is an application found on the TC51 that allows the end user to "suspend" their current session and replace the devices battery without completely powering off the device.

Workflow

When using battery swap mode, user must accept 2 screen prompts, and wait for red LED on device to turn OFF prior to removing battery from device. Once battery removed, replace with a charged battery and press power button until device vibrates.

Issue

If end user does not wait for red LED to turn OFF on the device - the device will reboot into Airplane mode if running a patch older than Nougat 17.

Resolution:

  1. End user education
  2. Disable Battery Swap Mode

Recommended:

Disable Battery Swap Mode

Disable/enable Battery Swap Mode

For AirWatch (MDM) customers - battery swap application can be blacklisted via MDM

For MDM's that are unable to blacklist applications - please use the following barcodes/XML files to disable Battery Swap application

  • Barcodes must be scanned in StageNow application
  • XML files can be pushed via MDM to devices, if MDM supports this
    • Please see Zebra StageNow documentation for further information

Default non-Voalte applications

The following applications can be accessed by the end-user:

  • Notepad
  • Clock (which includes stopwatch)
  • Calculator
