Voalte Platform Server 3.7.0 Release Notes

These release notes were last updated on 4/14/2019. For a more recent copy, please reach out to your Voalte representative.

Executive summary.

Voalte Platform Server 3.7 allows customers to take advantage of features listed in the application release notes as well as the ones listed below. Voalte Messenger is released in conjunction with Voalte Platform Server, so its release notes are included in this document. Voalte Messenger 3.7 introduces notification support so that users won't miss any critical messages, regardless of what they are working on.

Voalte Platform Server 3.7 and Voalte Messenger 3.7 are available starting December 10, 2018. Please reach out to your Voalte representative for more information.

Supported browsers.

Voalte Platform Server 3.7 is supported on Internet Explorer (version 11) and Google Chrome.

New features and functionality improvements.

Voalte Platform Server 3.7 introduces many other new features and fixes several known bugs, which are listed below.

Access third-party apps from the Patients screen.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

Users with patient-viewing privileges can tap or click the patient information within a room and be redirected to a third-party patient-centric system, such as an electronic health record (EHR). For example, a user could click a patient's name in Voalte Messenger to be redirected to the patient's record in Epic.

You can link up to five unique sources per patient listing in Voalte Platform. Links can be set up to use patient identifiers to connect Voalte Platform with native applications or websites. Websites will display in the in-app web browser on the mobile client if the client has been configured accordingly in Voalte Admin.

Automatically add the patient name to group messages.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

In Voalte Messenger, when a user with patient-viewing privileges creates a group message addressed to members of a care team, the subject of the group message is formatted to display the patient’s name, room and date.

If one of the recipients included in the group message is not a part of the care team or does not have patient-viewing privileges, the group message subject will not include the patient name.

Call Voalte Messenger user's preferred number.

Voalte Messenger users now show as callable in the Voalte Directory. A preferred number must be included in the user’s profile, which can be either a cell phone or desk phone number. If you are running a 3.7.1 server version, Voalte Messenger users with a saved preferred number will have an option in the Profile Menu to disable this feature.

Display EHR roles for users on a care team.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

Hospitals that have integrated Voalte Platform with their EHR can choose to display EHR roles for Voalte Platform users in the care team when a patient is viewed in a Voalte Platform app. In Voalte Messenger, the EHR role listed will be in addition to the Voalte Platform roles the user selected during login. The EHR role is visible only from the patient screen and is not searchable.

Edit team names without removing assigned roles.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

When editing or deleting a team name, Voalte Admin users are no longer required to remove all existing assigned roles.

Forward calls made to a Voalte Platform user’s extension or DID number to the user’s preferred number.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

You can enable call forwarding to the preferred number of a user who has a user extension or DID number.

Calls will route when the signed-in Voalte Messenger user has a preferred number saved to his or her profile.

Override Mute switch and Do Not Disturb settings.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

Voalte Platform can override the Do Not Disturb (DND) settings on Android and iOS devices (currently not available for iOS Voalte One). For Voalte One, this is set up and managed in Voalte Admin.

Single sign-on support.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

Voalte Platform supports single sign-on (SSO), which allows users to sign in to one application that also can log them into Voalte Platform. Multiple authentication services can be added to each user’s account. You can choose to require users to log in with SSO only.

Note: Voalte Platform will need to validate against each identity provider. 

Voalte Messenger notifications.

Requires 3.7 Voalte Platform Server

Voalte Messenger now supports Google Chrome and Microsoft IE browser notifications. To start receiving notifications, users will need to allow their Voalte Messenger browser to post notifications from the pop-up that appears when the application is launched.

Note: If the Voalte Messenger tab is closed but the user is still logged in, he or she will not receive browser notifications from the application.

MSG-2353 The sender's presence is not displayed on the text bubble for group messages with replies permitted set to OFF (or a broadcast message).
MSG-2338 A 1:1 message with replies turned off and a custom subject will revert to "Receiver, Sender" after a refresh or log out/in.
MSG-2336 The banner is not displayed if a user with one role exceeds the assignment limit.
MSG-2323 Conversation results of the sender may be incorrect for a receiver of a broadcast message.
MSG-2314 A room's checkbox for group messaging is not displayed when in "Viewing By Roles" and another user assigns himself or herself to that room.
MSG-2262 On rare occasions, a user might see a "Failed to load the departments / buildings" notification when after viewing the list of departments or buildings.
MSG-2261 When in a room for too long, the User gets assigned to the Patient and not to the Room
MSG-2210 The user gets stuck in the Rooms Selection screen, if the Rooms limit was changed before login
MSG-2203 The Overall Limit banner is no longer displayed when the user navigates back from Rooms
MSG-2199 The Overall Limit banner doesn't update when the user selects "No Rooms" or 'No Teams"
MSG-2143 The user is taken to the login screen every first time a "persist_local_session = true" URL is accessed after a "persist_local_session = false".
MSG-2077 If the user cancels the Bump Confirmation pop-up, all the Locations in the Shift/Edit Assignments process are deselected
MSG-1932 User's cell is not displayed in the Room when they assign themselves to the Patient
MSG-1928 User is unable to "Clear All" conversations if there are "unsent" messages
MSG-1911 An error could occur if the same patient is discharged and then reassigned to the same room with different providers.
MSG-1717 If a user logs out during shift selection and logs back in, the user will get stuck in a loading screen on shift overview.

MSG-1240 A conversation record is not properly deleted when deleting it while there is no internet connectivity.
MSG-1223 A user is still displayed in a team after it's role has been taken out of the team.
MSG-1199 The app is blocked by a loading spinner when making a request before displaying a reconnection screen.
MSG-1100 [IE 10] Clicking a second time on a conversation subject doesn't make the text editable.
IRIS-3524 The "Current User" is still displayed on the Endpoints page after being logged out due to inactivity session timeout.
IRIS-3346 "Duplicate external ID + type" error message when trying to import a CSV file
IRIS-3337 "Import Error" is shown if uploading a user with an invalid Auth Type entry.
IRIS-3262 Endpoint ID may not display apostrophes correctly.
IRIS-3242 After tapping 'Continue with no Role or Location' on a Bump pop-up, then tapping Start Over, the default role appears selected.
IRIS-3231 Extension/Unit redirect number appears on the Audit Voice CSV file even if the call was not redirected

IRIS-2130 The "Did not Answer" call record is lost after a force close or log-out and user has Unit Redirect or Extension Redirect.
ADM-1661 The Users page gets stuck on loading when attempting to force log-out a user who is already offline.
ADM-1654 Unable to save a user profile when only one LDAP domain is available.
ADM-1565 [Endpoints] "404-Not Found" pop-up is displayed after clicking on a device which was used by a user that is currently deactivated.
ADM-1472 A profile picture is displayed in the "Endpoint Details" panel for "Previous User" even though no user was previously logged in.
ADM-1207 The "60301" error code is displayed instead of "Duplicate Location Name" when trying to add/edit a building/unit with a duplicate name.
ADM-1094 "405-Method Not Allowed" error is displayed when trying to delete a Unit after previously editing another one; 'Units & Rooms' page gets stuck in infinite loading.
ADM-1093 "Save unit" button is missing when trying to add multiple units to a building, and the units are displayed on the page in a misleading way.

MSG-2579 Messenger is not loaded properly and the user taken to the log in screen if a failover or IRIS restart occurs while refreshing the page.

Reload the page after the server recovers.

MSG-2571 User is unable to add/remove other users to/from Favorites after previously attempting to favorite a deactivated user from conversation history.

Refresh the browser.

MSG-2567 Status and directory updates received while being disconnected for a long period of time (around 1 hour) won't be reflected when reconnected.

Navigate away from the directory screen and back, or refresh your browser.

MSG-2564 The app occasionally gets stuck in Shift Overview, after editing the Shift Assignment.

Force close, and relaunch application.

MSG-2562 The "Only one window/tab may be open..." error message might be displayed if opening another MSG instance in the same browser - no tone is played.

Don't switch back to the initial MSG instance before the new instance is fully loaded.

MSG-2558 "Failed to load user preferences" error is displayed when continuing with no role or location - or when performing a page refresh after being bumped from an Unit Exclusive role

MSG-2556 [Chrome] The priority tone is played only once if the user is logged out due to inactivity session timeout, last log-in wins, etc

MSG-2488 No warning message is displayed when trying to login while there is no network connectivity.

Attempt to login again after establishing network connection.

MSG-2446 Favorite star is not displayed anymore alongside the Favorited Team after the Team name is changed from Voalte Admin.

Navigate out of the current display and back in.

IRIS-3702 [iOS] If alarms are sent to a user when he or she does not have network connectivity, he or she may not receive notifications for some of the alarms once network connectivity is regained.

None.

IRIS-3653 The tones selected while on Voalte Me may play while on Voalte One for notifications received with APNS.

None.

IRIS-3650 The "Accept & Call" option is not shown in within the notification for an alarm received through APNS.

The user will be able to see the option in the Alert history screen.

IRIS-3638 Unable to load Endpoints page in Voalte Admin.

Reach out to Voalte Support for information about a user, or go to the Inspect tab of the user profile.

IRIS-3614 [Endpoints] After an endpoint is logged out due to session timer it shows as a ghost record on the Endpoints Page and CSV export file.

The ghost record clears when a user logs into the endpoint again.

IRIS-3601 [Audit][Directory] Changing the picture of a user from Admin does not capture the performing user in the Audit CSV Export file.

None.

IRIS-3580 [Audit] Being connected with the same user on ADMIN and a Voalte end user client at the same time, device information might be missing from Audit Export CSV files and Audit DB.

If logged into Admin first, this does not occur. If you log in to Admin, when already logged in to a Voalte end user client, then force close and relaunch the end user client so Audit will record the correct user information.

IRIS-3571 Performing multiple blind transfers (two) will wrongly indicate the Callee for the first call in the Audit DB and CSV export.

None.

IRIS-3569 User is unable to add/remove other users to/from Favorites after previously attempting to favorite a deactivated user from conversation history.

Force close and relaunch app.

IRIS-3566 [VOne] Call records with Deactivated users are lost after a Force Close / Re-log into the application.

IRIS-3497 The 'Load More' button is shown in the Collapsed Role Cell even when the number of search results is under the dir_limit by 1.

ADM-1736 The default ringtone sounds are not played when clicking the play button after being reset to defaults after disabling the override_mute_switch parameter - the ringtones previously changed to something other than the defaults.

Refresh the browser.

ADM-1696 "An unknown error has occurred" pop-up is displayed if trying to add a new extension range while having no Ethernet Connectivity (http timeout)

ADM-1695 A non user-friendly "- 1 -" error is displayed when navigating / creating a location in Admin and http timeout occurs.

Refresh the page when have Ethernet connection.

ADM-1558 "An error occurred creating the role/group. Please try again!" error is received when trying to create a role that already exists in the system.

Error should indicate that role already exists.

ADM-1519 [IE11] Dashboard tab may lose functionality after adding a mobile number to several users from "No Mobile Number" report.

Click on another tab and then click on "Dashboard" tab.

ADM-1437 The color of the mandatory field indicator placed on Details tab is not changing to red when several mandatory fields are empty.

Refer to Admin manual for list of mandatory fields.

ADM-1435 [IE11] "Details" and "Roles" tabs may be displayed empty when bulk inspecting users.

Use single inspector instead of bulk.

ADM-1368 The export progress bar may update incorrectly for small or medium exports.

ADM-1335 The mobile number is not successfully saved if dismissing the confirmation dialog using the Esc key.

Click "Close" to ensure mobile number is saved.

ADM-1214 Import progress bar is displaying incorrect information after importing a file containing an invalid GUID and/or duplicate location.

ADM-1160 "Users" page might get stuck up to ~40 seconds when browsing between pages while set to display up to 200 results per page.

Use Chrome. If you must use IE 11, set it to display 25 results per page. The pages show slower with each step up above 25 when running on IE 11.

ADM-1112 The "Units & Rooms" page gets stuck in infinite loading after trying to delete a unit, which cannot be deleted.

Reload page.

ADM-985 Error Message is not received when saving a non-Voalte One user account with DID and without a Voalte extension.

Navigate away and back to the User Profile or refresh the browser.

MSG-2407 User is dropped into Home view after being bumped from an exclusive role/unit while viewing that unit.

MSG-2375 The app gets stuck in "Reconnection" mode, if connectivity is lost and regained while logging in with Single Sign-On

Force quit the app, then restart it, and log in via Single Sign-On again.

MSG-2343 Tooltip will not display user's DID when viewing by role if the role has a role extension but not a role DID.

Extension is still displayed. Click on the role profile to see the user's DID.

MSG-2295 The updated status and presence of a user inside a collapsed role cell is reverted to the original values if performing then cancelling a search.

Leave the collapsed role cell and return to it.

MSG-2278 A user without a default department that selects "proceed with no assignments" after selecting an exclusive role may see the role on his or her own profile after completing shift selection.

Reload the page. Note that the user didn't take the exclusive role from the person who had it previously.

MSG-2252 User can't return to the Location selector, if the page is refreshed after showing the "Confirm Bump" pop-up

Avoid refreshing the page when the "Confirm Bump" popup is being shown.

MSG-2249 Opening views with a large number of users takes several seconds in Internet Explorer.

Please wait up to ~10 seconds for the large directory to load.

MSG-2221 The "Room" Pill is not dynamically updated on My Profile / User Profile / Role Profile when a Patient is Admitted

Force quit the application and reload the page.

MSG-2218 The user is redirected from a Profile screen to the Slide Intro screen after the user deletes all conversations

MSG-1946 An error occurs when the user refreshes the page while inside a Conversation

Wait 10 seconds until the error gets dismissed.

MSG-1871 Unable to access My Profile screen from Group Messaging mode

Navigate away from the screen, then re-open My Profile.

MSG-1846 A photo message might remain stuck in "image loading spinner" if a conversation is opened while having no network connectivity.

Refresh the page.

MSG-1556 User is able to cancel the Search Mode without clicking the 'Cancel Button'

This only happens if the user deletes the search characters. When done adjusting the search entry initiate the search again.

MSG-1550 Quick Messages remove text entered by user.

MSG-1405 A bulk selection option is not available to select all rooms.

Select the bulk selector next to each room.

MSG-1252 The application won't automatically recover from a "server busy" state after the server recovers.

Refresh the browser.

MSG-1218 No tooltip is displayed when hovering over an exclusive hospital based role cell displayed in a unit.

Open the profile to see all information.

IRIS-3573 If a user extension is removed and not the DID, the same DID will appear in the profile even after adding a new extension.

Remove DID when updating or removing a user extension.

IRIS-3568 [VOne] Incorrect Call Duration will be displayed for Call Records with PSTN/PBX after force close / re-log in. The value shown is higher than actual call duration.

IRIS-3567 [Audit] Shadow Assignments are not presented in Audit CSV export files when the user goes Unavailable.

IRIS-3561 [Audit][Voice] Affected Username field from the Voice CSV export file is empty when calling a PBX/PSTN number.

None.

IRIS-3476 User email address is case sensitive.

Ensure email addresses are unique upon entry.

IRIS-3463 Importing Excel files that contain UTF-8 characters and which were exported with the BOM, causes an error.

Remove/replace any non-ASCII UTF-8 characters in the Excel file, before importing.

IRIS-3399 When re-activating a user account where a field value is already in use, the server will send back two error codes instead of one.  
IRIS-3343 CSV files can be imported without the "SSO name" and/or "External Username" column headers

Ensure that the CSV file includes "SSO name" and "External Username" column headers, then re-import the file.

IRIS-3338 The SSO Domain and External Username fields are still configurable, when the Authentication Method is set to "Voalte"

Leave these fields blank unless the desired authentication method is "SSO".

IRIS-3298 Exporting a user CSV that failed will have extra columns.

None. Columns will not cause any issues if CSV is uploaded into Admin.

IRIS-3268 Endpoints records may be missing fields or showing incorrect information for a user logged into Voalte One/Me and Admin at the same time.

None. Most users that need to be looked up in Endpoints will not be signed into both Admin and another client at the same time.

IRIS-3246 A Voalte Messenger user can see an extra exclusive role on their profile that not visible to other users when logging in by selecting "proceed with no assignments"

None.

IRIS-3230 Call Context field is empty for a PBX-PBX call record which occurred due to transfers and redirects

None.

IRIS-3214 The "60473" error code is displayed for every missing/invalid non-role header in the Import User Error pop-up.

Verify that the headers are correct prior to uploading.

IRIS-3213 If a user's account is change to "user" type (instead of administrator) while he or she is logged into Admin, an error message will display when editing the extension range.

IRIS-3205 Creating or editing extension ranges can appear to timeout when there are already many long extension ranges already in the system.

Consolidate extension ranges where possible. The update might still succeed even though it shows a timeout. If it doesn't contact Voalte for support.

IRIS-3192 [Audit] The user's assignment information will not be blank if the app is force close when events are received and presence is set to unavailable.

None.

IRIS-3189 A user whose default role changes from Hospital Based to Unit based while offline will not be seen in the unit by other users.

Force close and re-launch application to see the user.

IRIS-3176 Audit records have missing fields if a PBX number is transferred to another PBX number via a Volte One attended transfer.

None.

IRIS-3150 A user's details appear under both devices in Endpoints after logging into a second phone and kicking the user out of the first phone.

None.

IRIS-3135 [Voalte One] After deleting the call record of a user who performed a blind transfer, force closing and re-launching the app will display the call record to whom the user was blind transferred.

None.

IRIS-3111 'Limits Changed' pop-up is incorrectly displayed in Shift Overview, even though the limits have not been changed on the server

None.

IRIS-3102 Users with a large number of personal contacts (50+) can lose contacts in rare circumstances.

Recreate the lost contact.
